Helping people, not profiting
Most people who choose a career in healthcare do not do so with the motivation to earn a great deal of money or accumulate material wealth – rather, they want to help others and render a service to society.
Maintaining this virtuous attitude against the backdrop of a societal development that increasingly places the individual, personal needs, self-interest, and profit at the forefront is an art that, unfortunately, few manage to sustain.
Quran 76:8–9
وَيُطْعِمُونَ الطَّعَامَ عَلَىٰ حُبِّهِ مِسْكِينًا وَيَتِيمًا وَأَسِيرًا إِنَّمَا نُطْعِمُكُمْ لِوَجْهِ اللَّهِ لَا نُرِيدُ مِنكُمْ جَزَاءً وَلَا شُكُورًا
“And they give food, out of love for Him, to the needy, the orphan, and the captive, saying: We feed you only for the sake of Allah. We seek from you neither reward nor gratitude.”
