What Sakina means
In the Quran, Sakina (سكينة) describes the deep inner tranquility that Allah sends down into the hearts of the believers. Not a state that can be forced. A gift that grants certainty where there was unrest before.
هُوَ الَّذِي أَنزَلَ السَّكِينَةَ فِي قُلُوبِ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ لِيَزْدَادُوا إِيمَانًا مَّعَ إِيمَانِهِمْ …
“It is He who sent down tranquility into the hearts of the believers that they would increase in faith along with their [present] faith.”
Surah 48:4 · al-FathOur guiding words also come from the Quran: “From the darknesses into the light” (Surah 2:257).
About SAKINA
SAKINA is a project by Muslim physicians and healthcare professionals, as well as those who engage with the topic of Islam and psychology, whether professionally or personally.
We do not see ourselves as those who bring healing to people; rather, we hope that Allah – the Most High – uses us as a means to guide people toward emotional and spiritual strength.
Our current focus is therefore primarily on education, training, and networking with those who share this interest.
Your SAKINA Team
Our Motto
Discover with us Islam-based solutions for psychological challenges – toward mental strength, stability, and Sakina.
Our Approach
SAKINA consists of a multidisciplinary team and aims to offer a platform for those interested in engaging with the topic of Islamic psychology and psychotherapy.
We do not simply wish to dress this field in an Islamic garment, but rather to illuminate it from the ground up – approaching the human psyche from the foundation of Islamic Aqeedah.
Our Focus
Education, training, and networking with those who share our interest
Our Three Pillars
SAKINA promotes structured self-examination in the spirit of Islamic scholarship. Individual burdens and inner conflicts are analyzed methodically to make causes, interactions, and personal capacity for action comprehensible.
Based on the Islamic Aqeedah, psychological processes are placed within a higher framework of orientation. The goal is to align patterns of thought and behavior with reliable principles as described in the Islamic scholarly tradition.
Through knowledge transfer, professional exchange, and networking, SAKINA supports the development of stability, self-regulation, and a sense of responsibility. The focus is on the long-term consolidation of personal and professional competence.
